Choose your local US phone number
Every InnerText creator gets a dedicated 10-digit US local number: not a shortcode, not a shared line. The number is yours for as long as your account is active.
Why area code matters
US fans are roughly 2× more likely to reply to a text from a local-looking area code than an unfamiliar one. If you can pick an area code your audience recognizes, do it.
How to pick yours
- Match your hometown or city of association. If you're a Miami creator, pick a 305. If you're an LA-based creator, 310 / 424 / 213 all read as authentic.
- If your audience is national, default to a major market. New York (917, 646, 212), Los Angeles (310, 424), Miami (305), Chicago (312) are all good defaults.
- Avoid area codes that suggest VOIP. Most overlay codes are fine, but a handful of newer area codes read as "marketing" to US recipients. We filter the worst of these out of the picker.
What you'll see in the picker
Area code → list of available numbers in that prefix. Most creators pick the first one they like the look of. There's no SEO or "vanity" benefit to memorable digits; almost no one types it manually.
Can I change it later?
You can release your number and pick a new one, but anyone who has saved your old number won't be able to reach you anymore. Old subscribers don't automatically migrate. Pick once and keep it.
Adding a second number
If you want to A/B test traffic sources (for example, one number on Instagram and another on TikTok), you can add up to two extra campaign tracking numbers from the same picker. All inbound goes to the same inbox; you can see which number each fan came in on.
